BLACKPINK’s LISA delivers a heartfelt performance in the cinematic music video for “Dreams,” the latest single from her Alter Ego debut solo album. The five-minute short film, written and directed by OJun Kwon, co-stars Japanese actor and model Kentaro Sakaguchi (Color Me True, The Final Piece) as LISA’s late husband.
The video opens with LISA dressed in mourning attire, seated in a church pew, reflecting on a painful night in Tokyo. She approaches a casket and places a single white flower on her lover’s body — only to envision him alive again, smiling and by her side. Scenes shift to the couple driving through the countryside, sharing tender moments, and reminiscing about their wedding.
As the story unfolds, it’s revealed that Sakaguchi’s character has passed away, his ashes kept in a metallic urn. LISA rows into the middle of a serene lake to release part of the remains, recalling a conversation about their dreams for a next life: she as a tree, and he as the lake that reflects its leaves.
“Dreams” captures a poignant journey of grief, love, and memory, blending narrative filmmaking with LISA’s emotional vocals.
LISA recently received her third MTV VMA nomination for Best K-pop for “Born Again” with Doja Cat and RAYE, after winning last year with “Rockstar.” She is currently performing on BLACKPINK’s Deadline World Tour, with upcoming shows at London’s Wembley Stadium on August 15 and 16.
