It’s official: Lady Gaga is heading back to the MTV Video Music Awards
On Saturday, August 30, MTV announced that the 39-year-old pop superstar will perform at the 2025 VMAs, airing live from New York’s UBS Arena on September 7 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. The show will be hosted by LL Cool J.
“I need all my little Monsters to get to the front! Why, you ask? Oh, because Mother Monster herself will be performing at the #VMAs 2025!” MTV posted on X (formerly Twitter), sending fans into a frenzy.
Gaga joins a star-packed lineup that already includes Jelly Roll, Doja Cat, Post Malone, Tate McRae, Mariah Carey, Sabrina Carpenter, and J Balvin, setting the stage for one of the most unforgettable nights in music.
This marks Gaga’s first VMAs performance since 2020, when she took home multiple awards, including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for her collaboration “Rain on Me” with Ariana Grande.
Anticipation is sky-high, as Gaga leads this year’s nominees with 12 nods, followed closely by her “Die With a Smile” collaborator Bruno Mars, with 11. Other top contenders include Kendrick Lamar (10), Sabrina Carpenter (9), ROSÉ (8), Ariana Grande and The Weeknd (7 each), Billie Eilish and Tate McRae (6 each), Charli XCX (5), as well as Alex Warren, Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus, and Morgan Wallen (4 each).
With such a lineup, the 2025 MTV VMAs are shaping up to be one of the most electrifying editions in recent memory — and Lady Gaga is set to be the night’s brightest star.
