KPop Demon Hunters makes history on the ARIA Charts

The Netflix animated phenomenon continues to dominate in Australia. The soundtrack of KPop Demon Hunters has just achieved a new milestone, securing its sixth non-consecutive week at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. With this record, it becomes the most successful animated soundtrack since the official charts were launched in 1983.

Previously, titles like Trolls (3 weeks in 2017) and Frozen (2 weeks in 2014) held the crown. Now, KPop Demon Hunters surpasses them all, highlighting not only the global rise of K-pop but also the growing influence of animated productions in the mainstream music industry.

The album’s lead single, “Golden”, continues its dominance at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart for the third consecutive week. Remarkably, six tracks from the soundtrack are currently placed within the Top 10, proving its massive appeal and staying power among listeners.

Adding to the cultural buzz, cinema chain HOYTS has announced that it will exclusively screen KPop Demon Hunters: Sing-Along Version this weekend across Australia and New Zealand, inviting fans to immerse themselves in the soundtrack in a unique, interactive way.

Meanwhile, other international and local acts are also making waves on the charts:

  • Conan Gray debuts at No. 2 with his new album Wishbone, marking his third Top 10 release in Australia.
  • Jordan Davis scores a career-best debut at No. 9 with Learn The Hard Way, fueling speculation of an upcoming Australian tour.
  • Local talent shines as well, with Justice For The Damned entering at No. 13 with Stay Relentless and Mama Kin Spender making their chart debut at No. 20 with Promises.

In addition, Taylor Swift continues to prove her dominance in Australia. Following the announcement of her upcoming album The Life Of A Showgirl (set for release on October 3, 2025), several of her previous albums have surged up the charts, including The Tortured Poets Department and Folklore.

KPop Demon Hunters is now more than just a movie soundtrack — it has become a cultural milestone, breaking historical records, energizing fans worldwide, and setting a new standard for how animated films can shape the global music scene.
