Ariana Grande unveils mysterious teaser for “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” the lead single from Petal

Ariana Grande continues building anticipation for her new musical era after sharing an enigmatic teaser for “Hate That I Made You Love Me”, the lead single from her upcoming album Petal.

The teaser, released on Monday, May 18, is accompanied by a stylish black-and-white video featuring words from the song’s title blended with photographs of the singer. The clip creates an ethereal and cinematic atmosphere, with sounds resembling drops of water falling slowly while layered production adds a delicate yet haunting feeling. Unlike most previews, the teaser does not include vocals or lyrics, making fans even more curious about the full release.

The song is officially set to arrive on May 29 and will be part of Petal, Ariana Grande’s eighth studio album, scheduled for release on July 31. The project will feature 12 tracks and is expected to mark a new artistic chapter for the singer and actress.

Grande co-produced “Hate That I Made You Love Me” alongside renowned producers Max Martin and ILYA. When first announcing the track, the artist described it as “one of my favorite songs of anything I’ll ever write,” further increasing excitement among fans.

The release of Petal will also coincide with Ariana’s return to the stage. Although the full album will arrive during her Eternal Sunshine Tour, the lead single will debut just days before the tour officially kicks off on June 6. The tour includes 41 dates across North America and Europe, with stops in Los Angeles, New York City, Montreal and Chicago, before wrapping up with a 10-show run at The O2 Arena.
