KATSEYE is confronting one of the harshest sides of fame. In a recent conversation with BBC News, the group revealed that since their 2024 debut, they’ve been overwhelmed by a large amount of online hate — including numerous death threats.
Member Lara Raj explained that the pressure has intensified over time: “As things move forward, the stakes keep rising and the pressure comes from every direction. I tell myself that what people say shouldn’t matter, but at the end of the day, we’re human.”
She added that receiving thousands of threats can be “shocking,” even if most aren’t considered a real danger.

Sophia Laforteza shared that the negativity hasn’t only affected them, but also their families and friends. “We know we chose a public life, and people feel they know everything about us. It’s part of the job, but it doesn’t change the fact that we’re human,” she said.
Fortunately, the members agree that having each other to lean on makes the hard moments more bearable, as everyone understands what the others are experiencing.

Despite the challenges, KATSEYE’s popularity is soaring in 2025. The group recently earned a Grammy nomination for best new artist, and their releases — including “Debut,” “Gnarly,” and “Gabriela,” the latter also up for best pop duo/group performance — continue to rise in success.
